Friends and colleagues of Capt Juli-Ann (Jules) Mackenzie (RRMC 1995),

I would like to advise you of the presentation of the Memorial (Silver) Cross, to Juli-Ann’s parents, Ms Candys Mackenzie and Mr. Rick Mackenzie. The Memorial Cross, Bar and Scroll will also be presented to Robert McMullen, Juli-Ann’s widower. The presentation ceremony will be conducted by His Honour, the Honourable Dr. Gordon L. Barnhart, S.O.M., Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan , and will take place on 4 Sept, 1500 hrs at Government House in Regina, SK.

Capt Juli-Ann (Jules) MacKenzie, and Capt Colin Sonoski lost their lives; and Sgt Mario Michaud and Cpl Dave Pawulski were seriously injured, 18 July 2002 in the tragic crash of a Griffon helicopter while on a search and rescue mission, north of Goose Bay Labrador.

Juli-Ann’s family have offered that any of Juli-Ann’s friends, supporters and former squadron associates are welcome to attend the ceremony, and the reception to follow. Please feel free to forward this email to others that I may have missed. If you plan to attend the presentation, I would ask that you pls send a quick email to the undersigned, such that the staff at Government House can be advised for planning purposes.

Lieutenant-Colonel Telah Morrison took command of 55 Canadian Service Battalion on 17 April 2009.

This makes two COs from the same family as her husband is 18075 LCol Stéphane Boucher (CMR)

15514 Dave Gosselin (RMC 1986)

dave-gosselin-cThe hour-long event, held under a clear blue sky and sweltering heat, was as much about welcoming Hall as it was about saying merci and adieu to outgoing commandant David Gosselin, who was promoted to colonel during the event.

“Can one person make a difference? I hope I have answered this with a resounding yes,” he said during the ceremony.
