Bonjour à tous,
Je vous écris pour vous informer que le CMR Saint-Jean tiendra la version 2021 du Leadersphère le jeudi 11 février. Cette journée promet d’être des plus intéressantes car elle traitera des sujets d’actualité les plus brûlants avec des panelistes d’une grande réputation intellectuelle.
Leadersphère 2021 s’interroge de l’an 1 de « l’ère COVID-19 » : sur les transformations de l’ordre mondial (Panel A – 5 panélistes distingués), sur les effets sur les opérations militaires (Allocution – Bgén Simon Bernard) et sur les effets des crises et guerres sur l’être humain (Conversation avec l’auteur Kim Thúy). Les trois panels/présentations au programme sont:
1. De 10h00 à 11h45 (Panel A), un panel se concentrera sur les défis mondiaux causés par la COVID-19 et sur ce que nous avons appris après 1 an de pandémie. Nous aurons 3 conférenciers distingués ainsi que deux de nos professeurs, Bruno Charbonneau et Chantal Lavallée, participant. Les invités sont :
a. Wesley Wark, professeur de l’Université d’Ottawa, un éminent spécialiste canadien des questions liées au renseignement, à la sécurité nationale et au terrorisme
b. Stephen Brown, professeur de l’Université d’Ottawa qui se concentre principalement sur l’intersection des politiques et pratiques des pays du Nord et d’autres acteurs internationaux avec la politique dans les pays du Sud
c. Shahar Hameiri, un professeur de l’Université Queensland en Australie qui étudie les domaines de la sécurité, du développement et de l’aide, de la gouvernance, de la géographie politique et des relations internationales
2. De 13h00 à 13h50 (Allocution), le Bgén Simon Bernard, le Chef d’état-major (CÉM) – Logistique et Opérations – Force opérationnelle déploiement des vaccins de l’Agence de la santé publique du Canada, abordera le rôle des FAC aux efforts nationaux en réponse à la pandémie, la dynamique et les relations civile/militaire pour former un ensemble cohérent de réponse à la COVID, et le leadership militaire intrinsèque recherché et comment celui-ci contribue à l’effort national.
3. De 14h00 à 15h45 (Conversation), le panel discutera de la littérature de guerre avec Bruno Charbonneau et la romancière renommée Kim Thúy. Elle est une écrivaine canadienne d’origine vietnamienne dont le premier roman, Ru, a remporté le Prix du Gouverneur général pour la fiction de langue française aux Prix du Gouverneur général de 2010.

I am writing to you to inform you that RMC Saint-Jean will be holding the 2021 version of Leadersphère on the Thursday the 11th of February. This event promises to be most stimulating as it will discuss today’s current world issues with regards to COVID-19 with guest panelists with immense intellectual reputations.
Leadersphere 2021 is designed around the analysis after one year under COVID-19 and the transformations to the world order (Panel A – 5 distinguished panelists), to military operations (Guest Speaker – BGen Simon Bernard) and on the effects of crises and wars on the human being and societies (Conversation with novelist Kim Thúy).

The three events on the program are:
1. From 1000hrs to 1145hrs (Panel A), a panel will focus on the global challenges caused by COVID-19 and what we have learned after 1 year of pandemic. We will be hosting 3 distinguished guest lecturers as well as our very own Bruno Charbonneau and Chantal Lavallée. The guests are:
a. Wesley Wark, a professor from University of Ottawa a leading Canadian expert on issues relating to intelligence, national security and terrorism
b. Stephen Brown, a professor from University of Ottawa focusing mainly on the intersection of the policies and practices of Northern countries and other international actors with politics in Southern countries
c. Shahar Hameiri, a professor from the University of Queensland in Australia researching the fields of security, development and aid, governance, political geography and international relations
2. From 1300hrs to 1350hrs (Guest Speaker), BGen Simon Bernard, Chief of Staff (COS) – Logistics and Operations – Vaccine Roll-out Task Force Public Health Agency of Canada, will give a presentation on the role of the CAF in support of the national pandemic response, civil/military cooperation to form a coherent response to COVID-19, and the military leadership qualities highly needed and how these contribute to the national effort.
3. From 1400hrs to 1545hrs (Conversation), the panel will discuss war literature with our own Bruno Charbonneau and renowned novelist Kim Thúy. She is a Vietnamese-born Canadian writer whose debut novel Ru won the Governor General’s Award for French-language fiction at the 2010 Governor General’s Awards.
