Honouring and recognizing the tremendous accomplishments of their student-athletes over the past year, the RMC Paladins concluded their varsity season with their 2025-26 awards ceremony Wednesday night.
Hearing their name called the most, two separate Paladins were the winners of two different awards. Second-year women’s soccer goalkeeper, Brianna West, had a big night, being named the winner of both the RMC Athletic Challenge Cup Hutton Trophy as the top second year cadet, and the Kelly Gawne Memorial Cup (athlete of the year – women). West, who was named an OUA first team all-star, started all 12 games this year, making 100 saves to help guide RMC to their most points in a season since 2013.
Senior hockey captain, Brock McNaughton, was also a two-award recipient Wednesday night. A two-year captain, McNaughton was the winner of the H.R.H. Prince of Wales Cup for his athletic performance and excellence in the four College components (academics, bilingualism, military leadership and physical fitness). Prior to that award, McNaughton was named the winner of the Whitaker Cup, given to the best team captain at RMC.
Dual-sport athlete, Daniel Galaman, was this year’s winner of the Tommy Smart Cup (athlete of the year – men). Having won the RMC Athletic Challenge Cup Hutton Trophy last year, Galaman was back on the stage on Wednesday for his accomplishments in both fencing and karate.
Making a big splash in his first year at RMC, Ethan Morrow won the RMC Athletic Challenge Cup Hutton Trophy. The top rookie of 2025-26, Morrow was named to the OUA East all-rookie team. The first year men’s hockey goalie led the conference in saves with 731, which had him second in the country. For the season, Morrow finished with a .907 save percentage.
For the second consecutive year, the top third year cadet, and winner of the RMC Military College Club of Canada Trophy was a women’s volleyball outside hitter. With Ashley Raymond winning the award last year, this year it went to Elisa Markentin. Markentin led the team in points per set, while finishing second in kills with 116.
Receiving the Hamilton Branch Cup of the Royal Military College of Canada Alumni Association as the top fourth year cadet was men’s soccer fourth-year defender, Jun Lee. Previously, the recipient of the RMC Athletic Challenge Cup Hutton Trophy as the top second year cadet, Lee now takes home the fourth-year honour. Well known for his defensive abilities, Lee also registered nine shots this season and one goal.
This year’s Douglas Massey Cook Cup, awarded to RMC’s top team of the year went to women’s soccer. Finishing the season with eight points, it was their best result since 2013.
Etienne Tischhauser, a fourth-year prop for the men’s rugby team was the winner of the Fair Play award, which is presented to the athlete who has demonstrated fair play in their sport throughout their career.
Awarded to the student-athlete who best exemplifies RMC’s three values: Truth, Duty, Valour, the Captain Matthew Dawe Memorial Cup was awarded to men’s volleyball captain, Cameron Moar.
Rounding out the awards, student athletic therapist Carter Andrews earned the Dr. Ian Crawford Memorial Award for his work with the Paladins men’s soccer team.

Afin d’honorer et de souligner les incroyables accomplissements de leurs étudiants-athlètes au cours de la dernière année, les Paladins du CMR ont conclu leur saison universitaire avec leur cérémonie de remise de prix 2025-2026, mercredi soir.
Les athlètes qui ont entendu leur nom le plus souvent sont deux joueurs des Paladins, lauréats de deux prix distincts. Gardienne de but de deuxième année au soccer, Brianna West a connu une grosse soirée, remportant la Coupe Challenge du CMR/ Trophée Hutton à titre de meilleur cadet de deuxième année, de même que de la Coupe Kelly Gawne (athlète de l’année – femme). West, qui a été nommée au sein de la première équipe d’étoiles des SUO, a amorcé les 12 matchs cette année, réalisant 100 arrêts pour mener le CMR vers sa saison avec le plus de points depuis 2013.
Capitaine de hockey senior, Brock McNaughton a aussi reçu deux prix mercredi soir. Capitaine depuis deux ans, McNaughton, a remporté la Coupe de Son Altesse Royale Prince de Galles pour ses performances sportives et son excellence dans les quatre composantes du Collège (études, bilinguisme, leadership militaire et conditionnement physique). Avant de recevoir cet honneur, McNaughton a reçu la Coupe Whitaker, remise au meilleur capitaine d’une équipe du CMR.
Athlète pratiquant deux sports, Daniel Galaman a remporté cette année la Coupe Tommy Smart (athlète de l’année – homme). Après avoir remporté la Coupe Challenge du CMR/Trophée Hutton l’an dernier, Galaman était de retour sur la scène mercredi pour ses accomplissements tant en escrime qu’au karaté.
Ayant fait grand bruit à sa première année au CMR, Ethan Morrow a mis la main sur la Coupe Challenge du CMR/Trophée Hutton. Meilleure recrue de la saison 2025-2026, Morrow a été nommé au sein de l’équipe d’étoiles de la section Est des SUO. Le gardien de but de première année a mené l’association pour les arrêts avec un total de 731, ce qui lui a permis de se classer au deuxième rang national à ce chapitre. Morrow a conclu la saison avec un taux d’efficacité de ,907.
Pour une deuxième année de suite, le meilleur cadet de troisième année et lauréate du Trophée du Club du Collège militaire royal du Canada a été une attaquante de l’équipe féminine de volleyball. Après Ashley Raymond comme lauréate l’an passé, le prix a cette fois-ci été remis à Elisa Markentin. Cette dernière a mené l’équipe pour les points par manche, tout en terminant deuxième pour les attaques marquantes, avec 116.
L’athlète qui a reçu la Coupe de la Filiale Hamilton de l’Association des ancien(ne)s du CMR du Canada en tant que meilleur cadet de quatrième année est le défenseur au soccer de quatrième année Jun Lee. Après avoir déjà remporté la Coupe Challenge du CMR/ Trophée Hutton à titre de meilleur cadet de deuxième année, voilà que Lee met la main sur les honneurs de quatrième année. Bien connu pour ses aptitudes défensives, Lee a aussi réussi neuf tirs au but cette saison et un but.
Cette année, la Coupe Douglas Massey Cook, remise à l’équipe de l’année du CMR, est allée à la formation de soccer féminin. Cette dernière a conclu la saison avec huit points, son meilleur résultat depuis 2013.
Etienne Tischhauser, pilier de quatrième année de l’équipe masculine de rugby, a remporté le Trophée d’esprit sportif, qui est décerné à l’athlète qui a démontré de l’esprit sportif dans son sport tout au long de sa carrière.
La Coupe du capitaine Matthew Dawe, décernée à l’étudiant-athlète qui incarne le mieux les trois valeurs du CMR, soit la vérité, le devoir et la vaillance, a été remise au capitaine de l’équipe masculine de volleyball, Cameron Moar.
Pour conclure la remise de prix, le thérapeute sportif étudiant Carter Andrews a reçu le prix du Dr Ian Crawford pour son travail avec l’équipe des Paladins en soccer masculin.
