11338 Major Bruce Barteaux, EME After proudly serving in the Regular Canadian Forces for 35 years, Major Barteaux retired on 11 Aug 08, to return the next day in a Class B Reserve position as Project Manager of Clothe the Soldier, a testament to his love of serving in the uniform of the Canadian Army. After his enrolment on 1 Aug 73 in Halifax, Bruce attended the Royal Military College in Kingston, from which he graduated in 1978. After qualifying as a LORE (now EME) officer, his first posting was to CFB Edmonton. Three years in Lahr, Germany saw him serving with 4 Svc Bn, and 4 CER. These were followed by various postings to NDHQ as well as CFB Greenwood, Formation Logistics in MARLANT and 36 Brigade in
Halifax. He had opportunities through his career to serve on Army, Navy and Air Force bases and in National Defence, Area and Brigade Headquarters as well as NATO and UN deployments. Additionally, he experienced the rare opportunity of sharing an Afghanistan deployment with his son. On that note, two of the proudest moments of his career were enrolling his son, Jonathan, in the Reg Force in 2002, and presenting the Queen’s Commission to his daughter, Stephanie, in 2006. Bruce’s running achievements are legendary within the CF and outside of it. A veteran of 69 marathons and over 30 ultramarathon races, including representing Canada at the World championships in the 100 Km distance for the past seven years, Bruce was inducted into the Canadian Forces Sports Hall of Fame in November 2007. He has also channeled his running efforts into fundraising for the Terry Fox Foundation, having raised nearly $45,000 for that cause. Throughout his career, Bruce has been supported on the home front by his best friend and wife, Bonnie, with whom he has been married for over 30 years. Given that he was not leaving the area, it was decided that a retirement function would be held later this year. A relaxed affair to honour Bruce and Bonnie on his retirement will take place during a luncheon activity on Fri, 19 Dec 08 at the Chateau Cartier in Gatineau, Quebec.

14934 Major Scott Campbell: After more than 27 years of dedicated service to the Canadian Forces, Maj Scott Campbell will be retiring on 01 Dec 2008. Scott joined the CF in Jun 1981, and following graduation from RMC in 1985, trained as an Air Navigator at CFANS Winnipeg. Subsequent postings included 415 (MP) Sqn Greenwood, 404 (MP&T) Sqn Greenwood, the Aerospace Systems Course, Maritime Air Group Headquarters Halifax, an exchange posting with the RAF Nimrod Operational Evaluation Unit, and finally with a posting to the Directorate of Aerospace Equipment Program Management (Maritime) in Ottawa. Following retirement from the CF, Scott will be starting a career with the Public Service where he will be remaining in his current
position as the Undersea Sensor Systems Engineering Manager for the CP-140 Aurora. A retirement luncheon will be held on Tuesday 02 Dec 08, 1130 hrs at Patty Boland’s, 101 Clarence Street, Ottawa. 15740 Maj Yvon Caron retired from the Canadian Forces on 5 Nov 2008 after more than 26 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Forces. Born in Sainte Marie de Beauce, QC (a “jarret noir”) in 1965, Maj Caron joined the CF in 1982 and graduated from the royal military college of Kingston with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1987. Assigned to AMDU Trenton in 1988, he spent 4 years in the structures section as a design engineer. In 1994, he obtained a MSc in aerospace vehicle design from Cranfield university, UK and was transferred to Ndhq/dgaem to become the aircraft structural integrity engineer for the ct114, ct133 and cf188. Posted to 3 Wing Bagotville in 1999, he was assigned to 425 ETAC as Apo and was deployed as a maintenance officer for Op Echo. He was promoted to his current rank in June of 2001, becoming DCO of 3 Ema and subsequently Sameo of 425 etac. He returned to DAES in July 2004, assuming the responsibilities of senior structural integrity engineer for CF fixed-wing fleets. Posted to Daepm(m) in 2008, he is now the deputy weapon system manager for the ch124 fleet. Maj Caron is married to Diane Gagné and they have two children, Jean-Philippe and Gabrielle.
