President, RMC Foundation
The Royal Military College Foundation is an evolving organization, which has as its primary purpose raising funds to benefit your Colleges. I am privileged to be selected to lead this organization this year and in that capacity I have been blessed with a professional, active and committed Board.
Working as a team we have initiated programs to create greater efficiency for the organization, not only from the point of view of controlling our administrative costs, but enhancing our communication and contact with our alumni, supporters of the Royal Military Colleges and last, but certainly not least, all the graduating classes.
That activity has also involved intense discussions with the RMC Club and together we have recognized there would be substantial efficiencies if we worked more closely and effectively together. This has resulted in a formulation of a plan whereby the day-to-day administration of both operations will be linked and those individuals in a combined administration will be tasked with distinct and definitive responsibilities to either the Club or the Foundation based on the operational requirements of each organization.
The Foundation will, however, continue to be guided by its own Board with the assistance of one Senior Administrator.
In the analysis and review of future operations we regret to announce that Steve France, a long serving Executive Vice-President, has decided to tender his resignation. The Foundation appreciates and respects Steve’s input for the last 5 years and recognizes his valuable contribution to the Foundation during his tenure. We also wish him well in his future endeavours and look forward to his ongoing commitment and contributions to the College.
In this new reorganization we are happy to announce that the Foundation has been able to attract a very capable individual by the name of Glenn MacDonald. Glenn has been involved in the Red and White Program in the Prairies Region for a period of time and in his military career spent some years at the Royal Military College as the LaSalle Squadron Commander. Glenn, therefore, has intimate knowledge of the needs of the Royal Military Colleges. The Board looks forward to his involvement and his interfacing with Peter Dawe in ensuring that the combined administration functions efficiently and effectively for the benefit of both organizations.
It is my sincere hope that all individuals who respect and love the Royal Military Colleges recognize that we, as a volunteer Board of Directors, do our utmost to benefit our alma mater and do so selflessly, with unrelenting commitment.

La Fondation des Collèges militaires royaux du Canada est un organisme en évolution qui a comme objectif principal d’amasser des fonds au bénéfice de nos collèges. J’ai le privilège d’avoir été choisi pour guider cet organisme cette année et je suis supporté par un conseil professionnel et engagé.
Ensemble nous avons mis sur pied des programmes afin d’augmenter l’efficacité de l’organisation non seulement dans le but de minimiser les coûts administratifs mais aussi dans le but d’améliorer nos communications et les contacts que nous avons avec les anciens, les supporteurs des Collèges militaires et, bien entendu, toutes les promotions.
Cette activité a engendré des discussions avec le Club des CMR desquelles il s’est avéré que nous pourrions augmenter notre efficacité en travaillant de façon coordonnée. Nous avons ainsi formulé un plan d’action nous permettant de rassembler l’administration du quotidien tout en établissant définitivement les responsabilités des individus de façon nette par rapport au Club ou à la Fondation basés sur les besoins opérationnels de chaque organisme.
Toutefois, la Fondation continuera à être guidée par son propre conseil avec l’assistance d’un administrateur sénior.
Dans l’analyse et la revue des opérations futures, nous avons le regret d’annoncer que Steve France, Vice-président exécutif de longue date, a décidé de quitter son poste. La Fondation apprécie et respecte le travail de Steve au cours des 5 dernières années et reconnaît sa contribution valable durant son mandat. Nous lui souhaitons bonne chance et espérons pouvoir profiter de son engagement et contribution envers le collège.
Dans cette réorganisation, nous sommes heureux d’annoncer que la Fondation s’est assuré les services d’un homme très capable du nom de Glen MacDonald. Glen est impliqué dans le programme Rouge et Blanc des Prairies et a servi comme commandant de l’escadron LaSalle au Collège militaire au cours de sa carrière. Glen a donc une connaissance intime des besoins des Collèges militaires. Le conseil mise grandement sur sa participation ainsi que sa collaboration avec Peter Dawe de manière à assurer le bon fonctionnement de l’administration unifiée au bénéfice des deux organismes.
J’espère sincèrement que tous ceux qui respectent et aiment les Collèges militaires royaux reconnaîtront que nous, en tant que conseil des directeurs bénévoles, faisons tout en notre pouvoir pour le bénéfice de notre alma mater de manière altruiste et avec un engagement continu.

Dear Fellow Ex Cadets,
I wish to inform you I have departed from The RMC Club Foundation to pursue another interest.
After almost six years work as the Executive Vice President I have to say it has been very rewarding.
The College is in a great position and the potential to influence and improve the program is huge. I have many more friends than I did six years ago and leave the job with a much better outlook on the role of RMC than I ever did as an Officer Cadet.
I am looking forward to assisting my relief in getting up to speed.

The RMC Club Foundation is privileged to receive the strong and consistent support of not only our alumni, but also a number of other companies and organizations.
One of these organizations is the law firm of Aird & Berlis LLP. This firm has consented to act for the year 2009 as the Foundation’s honourary counsel. Also, in doing so they have taken on the position of Grand Benefactor by making a $10,000 contribution.
Having available the legal services of a major Canadian law firm pro bono is a phenomenal benefit to your Foundation. As the President of the Foundation I cannot express my appreciation more profoundly to Aird & Berlis LLP for this extremely valuable contribution in kind.
To date they have already provided us assistance in employment contracts and in reviewing potential activities of the Foundation going forward. Their advice and counsel have been invaluable and I know I express the gratitude of the Board and I trust the RMC alumni to Aird & Berlis LLP for their dedication to the Royal Military Colleges through their assistance to the Foundation.
