“The Arch commemorates those who gave their lives FOR their country.  The Wall, on the other hand, celebrates those Ex cadets and graduates who have given their lives TO their country, and who have made a difference.”

5758 Michael Morres (CMR RMC 1963) – Class President

The Memorial Arch as we see it today was handed over to the college by the then President of the RMC Club, number 140 Brig. GL Carwright, CB, CMG, DSO in June 1924 – 85 years ago. It is arguably the most important architectural feature of RMC. This past Saturday many of us who were in attendance may have witnessed something as nearly as significant.

Time will tell, however, many people who have been involved with RMC for a prolonged period time predict that the newly unveiled Wall of Honour will one day reach, if not equal status, a very high place in the mindset of cadets of the day and ex cadets.

“Selection to the Wall of Honour is by no means dependent on professional qualification or position”,  said  5758 Michael Morres, 1963 class president…”the honourees this year come from very different backgrounds and have led very different lives – the only common factors are, first, that they are Ex cadets of the Royal Military College, and second, they have made a difference to Canada or to the World.”
