Roger Wright is a former Director of Queen’s National Executive MBA. He has lectured internationally on production and operations management, has been responsible for the design, start-up, and management of several new manufacturing ventures, and has owned and operated a management consulting firm. He is author of several articles on solid fuel combustion efficiency, energy efficiency, and transportation safety, as well as management related articles in Naval Logistics Quarterly and Canadian Journal of Higher Education. He has won teaching excellence awards at the University of Prince Edward Island, the Royal Military College of Canada, and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). Source

11318 Lieutenant-Colonel J. Ryszard J Sulik (CMR 1977) is Commanding Officer of the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Eastern Quebec and Ottawa Valley). He graduated from Collège militaire royal de St-Jean, with a BSc (Physics and Mathematics) in 1977. In the summer of 2000, he was posted to the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School (CFLRS) in St-Jean as the Deputy Commandant and in Aug 2002, he was appointed the interim Commandant until Jan 03. In Jul 03, he was posted to the J3 International staff at NDHQ coordinating support to missions in Bosnia, the Middle East and Haiti. He subsequently served as the senior military officer with the Operations Research Division. In Jul 05, Lieutenant Colonel Sulik was posted to SQFT/FOI(Est) as J1. In Aug 06, he was posted to 34e Groupe Brigade du Canada as COS and CO of the Headquarters. Since July 2008, he is the Commanding O fficer of the Regional Cadet Support Unit – Eastern. 15322 Commander Alexander C. Grant (CMR 1986) joined the Canadian Forces in 1981 as an Officer Cadet at Collège Militaire Royale de St-Jean, QC. He later transferred to Royal Roads Military College in Victoria, BC, where he graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and Oceanography and accepted his commission as a MARS Officer. In 2004, he commenced his studies at the Naval Staff College Course at the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island. During this year long posting, Commander Grant earned a Diploma in National Security, Strategy and Policy, and Joint Military Operations. In 2005, Commander Grant returned to Canada and joined HMCS Athabaskan (DDG 282) as Executive Officer. While serving in Athabaskan as Executive Officer, the ship served as both Commander Canadian Fleet Atlantic and Commander Standing NATO Maritime Group One’s flag ship respectively during OP Unison, Canada’s contribution to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort and a six mon th NATO deployment, OP Sextant. Following his posting as Executive Officer, Commander Grant was promoted to his present rank and assigned to Maritime Forces Atlantic Headquarters as the Deputy Chief of Staff Surface Operations. Commander Grant is married with two children.

15579 Mr Peter P.J. Sheahan (RMC 1983) leads a successful career in Commerce and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Along with his wife, he has driven across Canada and traveled to many countries, including a six month trip to Australia, New Zealand and across North America. Through his workplace and personal accomplishments, Peter is affirming his determination to live his life to the fullest. He was in his first year of Engineering at the Royal Military College in 1983, when he over-rotated on a gymnastic exercise during a team practice, breaking the fourth and fifth vertebrae in his neck, leaving him paralyzed. He spent the following six weeks in an acute care hospital. After being stabilized, he was transferred to The Rehabilitation Centre (TRC) where he spent the next year. Peter faced the difficult adjustment of going from his busy, active student life, to being completely immobile. His determination and hard work paid off. In 1984, only 18 mon ths after his accident, Peter went back to school to complete a degree in Commerce at Carleton University.

15703 Commander Ian Wood (RRMC RMC 1986) graduated in 1986 from the Royal Military College. In the summer of 2000 he completed a Masters Degree in War Studies from RMC. Upon graduation in 2000, he remained at RMC for two more years as both a Division Commander and the Commandant’s Naval Staff Officer. In 2002 he attended the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College in Toronto. Thereafter, Cdr Wood was appointed Executive Officer of HMCS VANCOUVER in July 2003. After one year as XO, he was promoted to his present rank and he joined the VCDS’ Staff in the Director General Strategic Planning as the Section Head for Future Concepts. Commander Wood graduated from the Advanced Military Studies Programme Course 09 at Canadian Forces Command and Staff College in Toronto in December 2006. Upon completion of the course he returned to the VCDS staff in the Chief of Force Development. In July 2007 he was appointed Executive Assistant to t he Vice Chief of the Defence Staff. He assumed command of HMCS PROTECTEUR in September 2008. Cdr Wood resides in Victoria with his wife Caroline Wood (neé Warren-Perry) and his two daughters Emily and Olivia. Source

17114 Commander Richard (Rich) A. Feltham (CMR RMC 1990) entered the Canadian Forces in 1985 as an ROTP cadet. He graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1990 with a BA in Political Science. Cdr Feltham is a graduate of the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College and has completed a Masters Degree in Defence Studies (MDS) at the Royal Military College of Canada. In January 2009 Cdr Feltham was appointed as the Commanding Officer HMCS CHARLOTTETOWN. He is married to Michelle Feltham of Moncton, NB and they have two young children, Daniel and Jessica. 17927 Commander Chris Sutherland (RMC 1991) enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 1987 and was accepted into the Navy. Cdr Sutherland started a four-year program at the Royal Military College (RMC) in Kingston, ON. Summers were spent completing military training, and he was fortunate to conduct his contact training in Long Beach, California and as an exchange midshipman in USS ANTIETAM. He returned to Canada to start his fourth year at RMC just as ANTIETAM was re-tasked to deploy in support OP DESERT SHIELD. He graduated from RMC in 1991 and moved to Victoria, BC to commence his naval career. In 2005, Cdr Sutherland attended the Command and Staff Course at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto. He assumed Command of HMCS MONTREAL in Jan 2009. In 2005, Cdr Sutherland attended the Command and Staff Course at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto. In July of 2006, he m oved back to Halifax to take up his appointment as Executive Officer of HMCS HALIFAX, and subsequently was appointed Executive Officer of Sea Training Atlantic. In July 2008, Cdr Sutherland returned to Ottawa to the Strategic Joint Staff Directorate of Current Operations. He assumed Command of HMCS MONTREAL in Jan 2009. Source

18344 Lieutenant-Commander Andrew Hawrylak (RMC 1992) enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 1987 as a Reservist Boatswain and shortly thereafter attended the Royal Military College graduating in 1992. LCdr Hawrylak was promoted to his current rank in 2005 and at that time assumed the position of Combat Officer for CCFL. In 2006 he left CCFL staff to join Sea Training Atlantic as the Weapons Officer until 2007. After leaving Sea Training, LCdr Hawrylak moved to Toronto, Ontario to attend the Joint Command and Staff Program at the Canadian Forces College. Completing this program in 2008, LCdr Hawrylak assumed his current position as Executive Officer in HMCS IROQUOIS. Source

In 2006, Lieutenant Commander Peats was posted to Director General Recruiting and Military Careers in National Defence Headquarters where he spent two years as Career Manager until he assumed his present appointment as Executive Officer of HMCS ST-JOHN’S in May 2008. 19251 LCdr Ronald (Ron) G Pumphrey (CMR RMC 1994) joined the Canadian Forces in 1989 under the Regular Officer Training Program. He followed in the footsteps of his older brother, 17606 Major John Pumphrey (CMR 1991), and attended le Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean, Quebec. LCdr Pumphrey later transferred to the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario, where he graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. On his own time, he later received his Master of Arts from Athabasca University with a focus on Adult Education. LCdr Pumphrey was selected to attend the Naval Staff College in Newport, Rhode Island. He graduated in June 2008 and was appointed the Executive Officer of HMCS OTTAWA. LCdr Pumphrey is married to Andrea (Andy) and they have two incredible children, Devin Ryan and Jordan Danielle. E1137 Commander Réal Brisson (RMC 1996) joined the Navy in 1984 under the Officer Cadet Training Plan. In 1996 Cdr Brisson held different postings in Kingston, Ontario and Halifax, NS while also completing a Bachelor in Military Arts and Science at the Royal Military College. In November 2004 Cdr Brisson became the Executive officer of HMCS ST. JOHN’S where he was promoted to his current rank of Commander and also attended the Joint Command and Staff Programme. In 2007 he was appointed as Commandant of the Canadian Forces Fleet School Quebec, where his spouse Pamela and his two sons still reside while he has taken command of HMCS IROQUOIS in Halifax, NS. Cdr Haydn C. Edmundson, CD (RMC 2007) joined the navy in early 1983. He graduated in 1999 from Memorial University in St John’s, Newfoundland with a degree in Maritime Studies. Cdr Edmundson was promoted to his current rank in 2006 and was posted to the CF Staff College in Toronto where he, in addition to completing Command and Staff College, attained his Masters in Defence Studies through the Royal Military College of Canada. Cdr Edmundson joined the newly formed Canada Command team in the summer of 2006 where he headed the maritime section within the J3 directorate. He is currently appointed as Commanding Officer of HMCS REGINA in Victoria, B.C. Cdr Edmundson currently resides in Victoria, B.C. where he pursues his interests in sports, sailing, woodworking and home renovations. Source

Commander D.M. Garnier, CD joined the Canadian Navy in December 1979. He was subsequently appointed Executive Officer for Sea Training (Atlantic) where he was promoted to his present rank in 2004. Completing the CF Command and Staff Course in Toronto, ON in 2006, he was selected as the Station Commander of CFS St John’s, NL. Following a brief tour in MARLANT HQ Halifax, Commander Garnier was appointed Commanding Officer HMCS PRESERVER in October 2007. He holds a BA (Political Science) from Dalhousie University and a Master of Defence Studies from the Royal Military College. In 2007, LCdr Salt was selected to attend the Joint Command and Staff Programme at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto and, upon graduation, remained at the college to serve as a faculty member for the Director of Curriculum. During his time at the college, LCdr Salt completed his Bachelor of Military Arts and Science degree from the Royal Military College of Canada. LCdr Salt was appointed to his current position in January of 2009 where he is serving as the Executive Officer of HMCS CALGARY.

Trois objectifs principaux ont été suivis lors de sa préparation : fournir au lecteur une façon de repenser, à la lumière de l’actualité des six dernières années, le phénomène du terrorisme ; développer des instruments pédagogiques qui donnent les connaissances nécessaires pour mieux appréhender le phénomène : donner des pistes pour mieux cerner les limites et les obstacles qui se dressent dans la lutte contre le terrorisme.

Pierre Jolicoeur est professeur adjoint au département de science politique et économique et Coordinateur Division des Études permanentes du Collège militaire royal de Kingston. Il est aussi chercheur associé au Centre d’études des politiques étrangères et de sécurité (CEPES) de l’Université du Québec à Montréal. Il a entre autres publié avec Yann Breault et Jacques Lévesque La Russie et son ex-empire : La reconfiguration géopolitique de l’ancien espace soviétique. Sa spécialité concerne d’abord le Caucase, mais déborde aussi sur les questions des relations internationales de la Russie et des ex-états soviétiques.
