Who Am I?

- I was born at Quebec, 26 August 1870.
- I received my education at Bishop’s College, Lennoxville, and the Royal Military College, Kingston.
- I was commissioned in the Royal Canadian Artillery in 1889
- I served with the force in the Klondyke from May 1898 to June 1899
- I served in South Africa first with 1st Canadian Contingent and later with the South African Constabulary in the Transvaal from April 1901 to June 1902. I was mentioned in dispatches.
- I was appointed Lieutenant-Colonel 1908 and appointed to command Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, 1911.
- During World War I, I served as Brevet Colonel andBrigadier-General Commanding Artillery, 1st Canadian Division, 1914-15.
- Promoted to Major-General, I was General Officer commandingRoyal Artillery 1915-16, and was General Officer commanding 2nd Canadian Division 1916-18.
- I was knighted in 1918.
- I was created Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in 1915; Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in 1917; Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB) in 1918; and Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George KCMG in 1919.
- I was Quartermaster-General at Department of National Defence 1919-20.
- A village in Saskatchewan, incorporated as a village on May 31, 1921, was named in my honour.
- I was Inspector-General at Department of National Defence until my release in 1925.
- I settled in England and died in 1944 at Headbourne Worthy, Hampshire, England.
