CFB Kingston to honour a fallen soldier

e-Veritas readers are invited to attend a unique building dedication ceremony where new living quarters will be dedicated to a fallen soldier of Canada’s mission in Afghanistan – for the very first time to the memory of 22596 Captain Matthew Jonathan Dawe, who died on July 4, 2007.

WHEN: The ceremony will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 7th, 2010.

WHERE: The ceremony will take place at the corner of Byng Ave. and Signal Ave. (CFB Kingston).

The general public is invited to attend this unique building dedication ceremony. Those wishing to attend are asked to be seated by 11:30 a.m.

This event is notable as it is the first defence infrastructure named in honour of a soldier killed during operations in Afghanistan. In attendance will be the Dawe family with a contingent from Capt. Dawe’s regiment – Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry, VIPs, representatives of other Government Departments and dignitaries, to include the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, former Governor General of Canada. The dedication ceremony will also include ceremonial guard from the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry – Capt Dawe’s regiment.
