A Message from the President
First off, I hope everyone had a safe and prosperous holiday period. I look forward to the New Year as an opportunity to bring significant changes to the Club, with guidance from the Strategic Review.
As most of you are well aware, the Executive Director (ED) is a key figure in the operational and strategic activities of the Club. I wish to commend our 1st VP, Jacques Gagné, for having enthusiastically led the team in a search for a replacement for Mike Rostek. The process was professional, thorough and transparent. Particular kudos goes to Bruce McAlpine, who through his expertise added both art and science to the undertaking.
It is my pleasure to announce that the new ED will be 13987 Bryan Bailey, Class of 1983. Bryan attended both RRMC and RMC, and has a wealth of operational and staff experience. He is currently serving in Afghanistan. Bryan has recently been granted his request for release, and it is anticipated that he will be taking up his new duties 15 April of this year. In the meantime, Bill Oliver has generously accepted to shoulder the duties of Interim ED in addition to his current workload.
For the curious, I would direct your attention to the article authored by Bryan on page 20 of the most recent edition of Veritas.

D’abord, j’espère que vous avez passé un joyeux temps des fêtes sans incident. J’entrevois cette nouvelle année comme l’occasion d’apporter des changements importants au Club sous la supervision du Comité de révision stratégique.
La plupart d’entre vous sont conscients que le directeur général (DG) joue un rôle-clé dans les activités opérationnelles et stratégiques du Club. Je désire souligner l’excellent travail du 1er Vice-Président, monsieur Jacques Gagné, qui a supervisé l’équipe avec enthousiasme dans sa recherche d’un successeur à monsieur Mike Rostek. Le travail s’est avéré professionnel, méthodique et transparent. Je félicite particulièrement monsieur Bruce McAlpine qui, grâce à son expertise, a su apporter aussi bien son habileté que ses connaissances au processus.
C’est avec plaisir que je vous annonce que 13987 Bryan Bailey, promotion de 1983, assumera le poste de DG. Monsieur Bailey a étudié au Collège militaire Royal Roads et au Collège militaire royal du Canada et possède beaucoup d’expérience opérationnelle et de gestion du personnel. Monsieur Bailey sert actuellement en Afghanistan. Il s’est vu accorder récemment sa libération et devrait commencer ses nouvelles fonctions le 15 avril prochain. Entre temps, monsieur Bill Oliver a généreusement accepté d’assumer le poste de directeur général par intérim tout en cumulant ses fonctions actuelles.
