Alumni and guests gathered at Royal Roads University on 12–13 September for a memorable weekend of remembrance, reconnection and celebration.
The Royal Roads Military College Homecoming brought alumni, families and friends together at Royal Roads University on 12–13 September. The weekend offered participants an opportunity to renew longstanding friendships, honour the College’s history and traditions, and celebrate the enduring bonds formed at Royal Roads.
Large contingents of Alumni from the RRMC entry years of 1966 and 1971 highlighted the attendees.
A centrepiece of the weekend was the Homecoming Dinner, which provided a formal setting for alumni and guests to reconnect and reflect on the legacy of Royal Roads Military College. Dr. Harry Kowal served as the guest speaker, providing an overview on the establishment of the new ROTP Enhanced Pathway program. The first 41 N/OCdts started classes at RRU on 8 September
The Mast Site Ceremony and Circle Walk were among the weekend’s most significant commemorative moments. In the historic setting of the Royal Roads campus, participants gathered to honour the College’s heritage, remember those who came before them and reaffirm the traditions that continue to unite the Royal Roads community. As always, Capt (N) Ret’d Dave Bindernagel captivated the audience with his speech.
The weekend concluded with a Farewell Gathering that included the premiere of a documentary by Dr. Geoff Bird, sponsored by the Class of 1969. The screening provided a fitting conclusion to Homecoming, using storytelling and shared history to deepen participants’ connection to Royal Roads and its lasting legacy.
The success of the Homecoming Dinner—and of the weekend as a whole—was made possible by the commitment, careful planning and generous service of many volunteers. Their work behind the scenes created a warm and welcoming experience for alumni and guests, and their contribution is sincerely appreciated.
Royal Roads Military College Homecoming 2026 was a meaningful celebration of fellowship, remembrance and shared purpose. Those who attended left with renewed connections, treasured memories and a deep appreciation for the people and traditions that continue to sustain the Royal Roads community—Legacy, Leadership, Shaping the Future.
