Open letter to the Royal Military College of Canada, Class of 2022 – from the Class of 1988

On the morning that I met my platoon, the second-in-command introduced me.  “Troops, here’s your new officer, Mr. Stevenson.”  He paused, I nodded.  He paused again and said, “remember his face, now carry-on.”  When that moment came, I had no wise or inspiring words to say that fit with the moment.  But over the course of the next three years, I listened to the non-commissioned officers and the soldiers; we grew together as a team, we won competitions, and I grew more comfortable as a leader.

Message from 7964 Don Bell, Adjutant of the Old Brigade to the Class of 2022

One thing we all learn in the colleges is that no one makes it through here on their own.  Take a moment before you leave to remember all the help and encouragement you received from classmates, professors and other mentors along the way.

20838 Alex Ruff, RMC Class of 1997, and MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, makes statement to the House of Commons on loss of RMC Cadets

Losing a member of the Canadian Armed Forces is never easy to accept for family and friends but losing someone in an accident just a few short weeks from graduation is even that much harder.
Mr Speaker, I don’t know the personal details of all four cadets; however, Officer Cadet Broden Murphy was the son of a fellow Class of 97 classmate, Major Dave Murphy and his wife Stephanie. I can’t imagine the pain and loss they and all the families are currently feeling.

5507 Jack Peltier, Class of 1962, Helps ‘Jump Start’ Sport Parachuting at RMC in 2023

Certifications in parachuting benefit the N/OCdts in their future military careers; many ex-cadets from the club work in airborne infantry regiments, become Special Forces jump instructors, or join the Skyhawk’s.

Now, another name will join the names of our fallen who are immortalized on the Arch — forever honoured with those who gave their lives while serving Canada. We stand with you. Truth Duty Valour.”

RMC Combat Weapons Team Update

On 9 April, the RMC Combat Weapons Team competed at the Sig Sauer Relentless Warrior Championships. RMC is the first international team to receive an invite and I’m extremely proud of these armed professionals, their conduct and performance was impeccable. Hard to believe that it took four years for this little idea to come to fruition, the long nights and persistence paid off.
